2018's most desired candidates in Myanmar

Myanmar’s top companies have advertised over 21,000+ job vacancies with JobNet from 1st January to 31st July, 2018.   Sales/Business Development was the job function with the highest demand, representing 18 % of the total pool. This is not surprising; given the vital roles these professions play in helping to improve the company’s market position to achieve financial growth.

Accounting and Finance jobs were the second most-advertised, comprising 13% of overall job in demand. These were followed closely by the Marketing/Media/Creative category which represented 12%.    IT Hardware/Software came in at 4th place overall, representing 9% of vacancies.

As with Sales, Finance and Marketing, employees with IT Hardware/Software skills and experience are becoming essential in every industry. As businesses become increasingly data-driven and processes continue to become automated, IT-related jobs have increased significantly, and job titles that were virtually unheard of only three years ago, such as Android Developer and Digital Transformer, have started to emerge.

When we examine the level of experience that companies are looking for to fill these jobs, we can see that for Managers and experienced Non-Managers, Sales / Business Development, Accounting / Finance and Marketing are still the top three job categories.  Sales / Business Development comprise represent 20% of all jobs targeting manager level candidates and 18% of all experienced non-manager candidates. For Entry Level candidates, Administration jobs took the top spot, followed once again closely by Sales / Business Development and Accounting / Finance.

With a growing economy, increasing foreign investment and modernization of work practices, the demand for a skilled and experienced workforce will increase in order to support business growth. Attracting the right people will become increasingly important, both to help drive business performance, as well as inject new specialisms and up skill existing employees to meet future needs.
