Duties & Responsibilities
Analyse and develop optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency.
Establish and monitor specific fleet performance measurement systems.
Create policies or procedures for logistics activities.
Train route planner and distribution reps in roles or responsibilities regarding logistics strategies.
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and safety records.
Achieves financial objectives by monitoring the distribution expenses against budget; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems and customer issues.
Participate in primary transportation processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
Monitor the distribution process across depots to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
Ensure primary transportation provider compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
Negotiate transportation rates or services for the ad-hoc requirement.
Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.
Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.
Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
Analyse the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, product volumes or mixes, or primary transporter
Coordinate reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources. Maintains receiving, warehousing, and issuing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Enforcing adherence to government regulation requirements on warehousing, material handling and issuing, and advising management on needed actions.
Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
Monitor the stock level at depots and warehouses and direct the replenishment plan
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and safety records.
Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
Completes warehouses operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Direct reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
