A Fantastic Opportunity for ...

The Senior Buyer assists the Contracts & Procurement Specialist in the day-to-day running of the Department, ensuring adherence to the Company guidelines, policies and procedures, and managing Contractors/Suppliers in accordance with Upstream Oil & Gas Industry best practices.
The Buyer will act as a liaison between the Supply Chain Management department and other End Users/Contract Owners such as Drilling & Completions, Engineering & Construction, Logistics, Finance, IT and Corporate.
Commercial:
• Manage the day-to-day Material Requisition > RFQ > Purchase Order process;
• Purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery;
• Accurately analyse and evaluate quotes from vendors in a timely fashion;
• Communicate with relevant personnel to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions;
• Monitor suppliers performance;
• Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers;
• Provide progress reports from vendors/suppliers and report on cost and schedule deviations;
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues;
• Meeting with vendors / suppliers if required;
• Develop creative and innovative procurement processes;
• Participate in assisting with vendor assessments, bid reviews and contract award formalities;
• Negotiate improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods;
• Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships;
• Prepare and execute Purchase/Service Order documents, including the preparation of internal approval documentation, as required;
• Prepare and issue call-out and amendment documentation including the preparation of internal approval documentation, as required;
• Conformance reviews of final documents to ensure completeness and consistency;
• Assist with improvement of contracts tools and work processes.
HSES:
• Ensure all work activities conform to the requirements of the Company’s HSES Management System;
• Ensure that safe working practices and procedures are implemented and adhered to;
• Encourage reporting of all incidents, near misses, accidents and injuries and ensure that the appropriate documentation is completed and all reported events are investigated;
• Comply with policies, safe working practices, rules, regulations and procedures set in place by Management.
People:
• Manage personal work priorities and professional development;
• Offer advice and guidance to other team members and Business Units concerning procurement processes and procedures.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Commerce, Supply Chain or Logistics), or equivalent knowledge, skills, ability and experience.
• Extensive knowledge of purchasing and contracting principles.
• Experience in managing contractors and suppliers.
• 5+ years broad experience in contracts, purchasing or legal disciplines, with 3+ years’ experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas industry in a similar role.
• Proficient in English language oral and written communications.
• Competent in the use of MS Office Applications.
• Experience in computerised Purchasing/Materials Management systems highly desirable.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
