ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Develop and implement approved wage and salary policies to attract and retain suitably qualified and experienced staff.
- Coordinate and control the recruitment of staff in accordance with department needs including the placement of advertisements, conducting initial interviews, reference checking and drafting letters of appointment.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate training and development programmes to develop existing staff.
- Represent the hotel in negotiations with labour unions and employee groups ensuring that the hotel’s interests are protected.
- Ensure that the hotel complies with the provisions of the Labor Law and any other appropriate legal requirements.
- In consultancy with Department Heads prepare service standards for each department in the hotel and assist Department heads to implement and monitor standard.
- Coordinate the preparation of position Descriptions and Person Specification for all hotel positions.
- Develop manpower planning strategies and procedures to ensure to that the hotel has access to appropriate levels of manpower to cover existing and future needs.
- Provide functional guidance and assistance to operation Department Heads on matters affection pay, discipline, welfare and training of hotel employees.
- Direct and control the day to day management of employee welfare facilities including staff accommodation, employee newsletter, staff transport and staff canteen.
- Coordinate the preparation and updating of employee handbooks and manuals censuring that all new employees receive a copy of the handbook on appointment.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of market salary and wage rates by participating in salary surveys to ensure that competitive rates of salary and wages are paid to hotel staff. Develop and implement a Human Resources database to record leave, training and salary and wages information for all hotel staff.
- Coordinate the participation of hotel staff in sporting and community development projects to develop and maintain a good public image for the hotel.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Set up and oversee effective employee welfare committee.

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

§ Monitors safety programs and Workers’ Compensation benefits.

§ Maintains all hotel personnel records and Human Resources files to ensure confidentiality where necessary.

§ Composes, types and distributes general Human Resources correspondence such as those announcing policy revisions.
