Job Description

A Big Opportunity for ...

The Communication Specialist/Manager has responsibility for developing, managing, advising, co-coordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring on communication strategy, campaigns and activities of BCGE, advise on communication strategy, campaigns, activities and communications plans of BCGE members, and associated activities on on-going basis with the objective of promoting gender equality in workplace awareness and support for BCGE’s vision and goals within the context of the gender equality initiative and women empowerment in commercial sector.

I. Communication Strategy
 Develop, maintain and update the association advocacy and communication strategy and associated work plan. Strategy and work plan include: a situation analysis and stakeholder assessment; objectives; target audiences; messages and media mix; resources; specific actions, activities and products; monitoring and evaluation of impact; success and opportunity for improvement; outcomes and ongoing refinement of the strategy.
 BCGE’s communication activities are appropriately reflected in the communication strategy and workplan.
 Maintain close collaboration with Investing In Women communication team, Regional Partners’ communication contacts, EDGE Communication Responsible persons, members’ communication contact for overall effective coordination by ensuring all brand guidelines, logos, organisation profile etc.

II. Media Relations and Management
 Ensure that the organisation has a well maintained and continually developed contact list of journalists, media agencies and media outlets covering all media – print, TV, radio, web etc. – and a successful process of communicating and maintaining regular contact and close collaboration with the media to communicate the story of BCGE's initiatives to a wider audience.
 Establish and manage the organisation’s website and social media accounts as part
of the communication and campaign tools.
 Promote a better understanding of BCGE’s activities through managing own social media and webpages while monitoring members’ & partners’ social media & webpages.
 Monitor updated information of gender equality from various sources and share to relative channels for more of public awareness.
 Source for publications and reports relating with gender equality and keep it for online and office iHub.
 Develop, maintain and update media relations contact list/database.
 Ensure rapid and accurate information dissemination to the media, members, partners, NGOs, Government and other appropriate audiences.
 Identify, develop, distribute and evaluate variety of media materials in multiple, appropriate formats (Press releases, feature stories etc). Ensure or enhance the quality, appropriateness of organisation and program specific communication materials, activities, processes and messages transmitted to the press, partners and public etc.
 Collaborate with mass media through activities such as organizing project site visits, facilitating photo coverage and TV footage and utilizing both web-based and traditional media as appropriate.
 Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials and share results and
findings.
III. Communication Service
 Review, refine and advises to gender equality/EDGE communication plan of members or
clients on assigned timeline.
 Develop communication training plan, pre and post assessment with support of HR advisor
and deliver trainings to members and clients.

IV. Networking and Partnerships
 Ensure that the organisation has a well maintained and continually developed/updated contact list/database of individuals, BODs, members, groups, clients, organizations and fora (including Government, partners, and bilateral counterparts).
 Establish document, review and refine process of working collaboratively with working group of BCGE, partners, including meetings/meeting minutes, joint projects, information sharing etc.
 Identify opportunities to strengthen the capacity of partners through appropriate advocacy
and communication training, access to information, supplies and equipment and through
knowledge sharing.
 Monitor, evaluate and share results and findings with partners.

V. Events
 Work closely with Operations Manager and team for organising events and activities of BCGE accordingly.

VII. Communications Campaigns/Materials
 Develop communications campaigns/materials as guided by Country Director and as required by the communication strategy and work plan.
 In addition to communications campaigns/materials, ensure that the organisation has an effective process in place for integrating and taking action on BCGE’s communications priorities and campaigns, both disseminating these elements in a locally-appropriate way, as well as providing/enabling coverage of the work in the country for global/regional use.
 Support the BCGE’s goals and objectives through development of communication materials and activities. Work plan should anticipate the inclusion of work on BCGE’s priorities and campaigns.
 Identify and highlight effective activities and results throughout the process.
 Ensure regular communication and co-ordination with relevant communication focal points in regional offices and headquarters divisions.
 Ensure or enhance the quality, consistency and appropriateness of initiative-specific communication materials, activities, processes and messages shared with relative parties.

VIII. Management
 Ensure that human resources and financial resources (budget planning, management and monitoring) are both effectively managed and optimally used. Take appropriate actions to optimize use of funds.
 Plan and monitor the use of communication budgetary resources.
 Develop a work plan for communication activities, monitor compliance and provide support
and guidance to ensure objectives are met.

IX. Monitoring and Evaluation
 Ensure that communication activities are established against which the achievement of objectives of the communication strategy are regularly evaluated; analysis is undertaken to continuously improve the effectiveness of communication strategy, approach and activities; results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.
 Provide technical support to ensure that a set of communication performance indicators are identified and adjusted as necessary, and these communication indicators are incorporated or fed forwarded in the Annual Work Plan.
 Conduct timely and accurate monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure the communications objectives are met and the strategy is effective.
 Undertake lessons learned review of successful and unsuccessful communication experiences and share observations/findings with organisation, members, clients and regional communication colleagues so that best practices benefit BCGE communication activities.

X. Capacity Building and Support
 Ensure that the BCGE operation team is provided with professional expertise and advice on all aspects of external relations and communication as required.
 Opportunities are identified and addressed for building communication capacity among country operation team, media and other relevant partners.
 Advise BCGE management, colleagues and staff on media strategy and implications for action
 Enable appropriate advocacy and communication training, access to information, supplies
and equipment, and developing training and orientation material.

Education  At least Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations is an advantage
Work Experience  Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in managerial level in communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media communication, marketing communication, campaign and media amangement
 Experiences in developing communication strategy, campaigns for ‘new-born’ organisation and developing press release
 Proficient in managing web and social media pages is a MUST
 Wide networks across the private sector, media, and government
 Strong undersatnding of branding is a MUST
Language Competencies  Proficiency in English and Native Speaker of Myanmar; demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
