Overall Purpose:
Manage, develop, maintain and/or coordinate a varied and intensive programme of environmental, sustainable development and community-led activity for the Trust.

Duty and Responsibilities
• The Environmental and Social Specialist will work under the general supervision and guidance of the E&S Manager
• To assist the E&S Manager in E&S management and in the application of the Environmental Policy throughout the Company’s operations; including site specific environmental plans, risk assessments & training
• Manage and conduct environmental and social safeguard due diligence of new investment proposals for IFC consideration
• Provide technical expertise on key issues related to environmental and social impact assessment and on sustainability risks in the design, preparation, implementation and supervision into consideration best industry practices and standards;
• Identify all key potential social and environmental impacts and risks of a project and ensure that their magnitude and significance are well understood;
• Conducting field visits and supporting in community consultation on environmental and social issues
• Prepare and/or contribute to technical reports and other environmental and social documentation required in processing Bank operations
• Additional duties as deemed necessary by leadership.

Education & Experiences

Essential
• Post-graduate degree (Masters required) in a relevant discipline including Environment, Social Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience in environment and/or social management and assessment directly related to private sector business activities.
• International experience required
• Good Knowledge of making and writing report

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and synthesize diverse environmentally-related data and information.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Sound knowledge of World Bank and/or IFC Environmental and Social policies or Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability or similar standards would be an advantage.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
• Good team player who can work as a member of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team, motivate and lead group efforts and network effectively across boundaries.
• Ability to travel frequently
