The Dariu Foundation is a Swiss non-profit organization working in Vietnam for more than 10 years, and with over 90 employees, dedicated to reducing poverty and creating opportunities for low income individuals and families, with a strong emphasis on investing in microfinance education.



At the present, The Dariu Foundation is seeking to implement programs of micro-finance, mobile schools and vocational training in Myanmar. To carry out the geographical expansion of our organization, TDF is looking for a qualified Burmese to fill in position of General Manager Myanmar.

Duty station: This position will be based in Mandalay office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The GM reports directly to the Regional Director and coordinates his/her activities with him. His/ her function includes but is not restricted to the following duties:

Main responsibilities and duties

1. Responsible for overall office management and financial administration including:

Day-to-day oversight of office operation
Review and sign the contracts for staff and/or with partners
Review and comment budget of other programs submitted by the program managers
Sign the financial documents
Strategic plan for future of TDF (organizational definition; staff capacity)
Prepare the regular and Annual reports and provide updates as required

2. Maintain relationships with government, NGOs, and the INGO community, specifically:

Update Gov policies/regulation for INGOs
Reports to licencing and where required
Keep contact with local authorities to ensure the staff rights and benefits, and maintaining relationship with local authorities
Ensure TDF permit renewal process, partnership agreement renewal on time

3. Responsible for Human resource management and development including:

Staff recruitment, supervision and assessment
Staff JD development/updating
Labor contract review and sign
Timesheet review and comment as needed
Authorize staff travel request and reimbursement requests
Personnel Policy development/comment and update as required
Organize regular staff meetings

4. Provide oversight and general support to projects and programs

Support project initiation (meeting/letter to authorities)
Review and Sign project contracts/MOUs
Oversee the implementation of all projects (work plan update and deadlines of milestones)
Represent TDF at conference/seminars/meeting as requested

5. Technical management and support to projects of microfinance, mobile schools and vocational training:

Develop long/short-range strategies and goals consistent with the mission and capabilities of TDF for Myanmar
Establish operating procedures and make decisions in overall programs of microfinance, mobile schools and vocational training and other if any in connection with the operation and maintenance of the organization in Myanmar
Responsible for financial management and fiscal administration, assuring compliance with proper accounting procedures required by law and funding sources
Develop and implement a strong business model for ensuring sustainability.
Provide training for staff at all level and ongoing oversight to ensure the highest standards of credit management and the timely realization of growth targets.
Ensure growth and profit targets are realized and sound deposits portfolio is established.
Develop and deliver on a customer focused culture and establishing high standards of customer care within the microfinance program of the institution
Develop and implement tools and measures of quality control

Job Requirements

Background in finance, banking, economics; Advanced degree in finance and banking is appreciated
Strong leadership skill with strategic thinking and long term vision
Demonstrated strong program management skills, especially in the areas of planning, monitoring, evaluation, budgeting and team management
Thorough understanding of Government structure, (I) NGOs, law on microfinance
At least four years working in the area of development, or finance and banking
Strong communication skills, sensitive, able to work with people of different backgrounds and social positions, including policy makers and the media
Excellent analytical, writing and organizational skills
Financial and personnel management skills
Demonstrated skill and experience in proposal development, work plans, technical and progress reports in Burmese and English;
Innovative, positive, and realistic in solving problems;
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Power point)
Fluent in English
Experience/background in microfinance is an advantage
