Role & Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for Plant Maintenance activities with the specific focus on production equipment but also supporting Utility equipment to ensure appropriate maintenance plans are in place for the Facility to reduce UPDT
• Direct responsibility for minimizing unplanned breakdown time including attending breakdowns and ‘hands-on’ troubleshooting, problem identification, and completion of repairs in a timely manner
• Perform and ensure breakdown maintenance of all equipment to minimize production downtime
• Direct responsibility for designing and implementing appropriate systems for planned and preventive maintenance, equipment history, spare parts and asset register. Ensuring reliable equipment operation and support Engineering Manager, Team Leaders, and Engineers to ensure All Safety, Quality and Operational goals are met
• Complete planned maintenance activities as per schedule in a timely manner
• Perform repair and maintenance of electrical or mechanical equipment depending on qualification (mechanical, electrical, and instrument)
• Troubleshooting and investigation of equipment operation, identification of operational and reliability issues and implementation of corrective actions to ensure breakdown is eliminated
• Routine checking of machine and equipment operation, collection of operational data and information for tracking and checking machine running to ensure high reliability of equipment
• Equipment and machine breakdown response and rapid repair/fixing of machine problems to ensure production demands are met
• Overall responsibility for the implementation of the Factory Performance and Reliability ‘Planned Maintenance Standard’ supported by Utilities and Production Engineers
• Direct responsibility for designing and implementing appropriate systems for planned and preventive maintenance, equipment history, spare parts and asset register.
• Implement Preventive maintenance systems
• Execution of engineering improvement projects that address root causes of Unplanned Downtime and improve reliability of the equipment and overall production throughput
• Responsible to the Engineering Manager for preparation and control of overall annual plant maintenance budgets.
• Responsibility for selection, training, coaching, feedback and development of maintenance technicians including
• ‘hands-on’ training of Maintenance technicians
• Development and implementation of training programs
• Development of Spares Management System
• Identify vendors for spares and contractors for outside maintenance services with support from Indirect Procurement
• Develop and implement appropriate Annual Maintenance Contracts
• Compliance with EOH&S standards, guidelines and procedures
• Compliance with Quality standards, guidelines and procedures
• Contribute as part of the Site Leadership Team for the effective Site Operation
• Overall responsibility for adherence to local laws, especially labour laws, pollution control laws, fire and explosives, safety, electrical installations etc.
• Direct responsibility for allocation of available resources including manpower and achieving the budgeted manpower budget.
• Ensure availability of manpower, parts, material and equipment in preparation for work execution.
• Coordinate with operations/production to designate the time to perform Equipment Maintenance Plan tasks.
• Ensure closure of Maintenance tasks and work orders as per plan
• Keep up-to-date maintenance records
• Implement Maintenance KPI’s and supply data to check maintenance performance versus goals.
• Prepare job plans and estimates for non-scheduled maintenance.
• Communicate with shift team to identify any work requiring attention on that shift at the start of each shift.
• Attend SDM on dayshift and commit to all actions requiring mechanical fitter expertise.
• Responsibility for discipline in the workforce

General Responsibilities:

• Ensure Compliance with EOH&S standards, guidelines and procedures
• Ensure Compliance with Quality standards, guidelines and procedures
• Contribute as part of the Site Leadership Team for the effective Site Operation
• Work additional hours where required to ensure the responsibilities of the Area Operations Manager are completed in required timeline

EOH&S
• Develop and pursue objectives for himself and his team members in line with facility objectives to improve EOHS performance
• Orientation and training to contractors on job safety and loss control with the help of EOH&S Coordinator
• Support and campaign for participation in his direct reports/contractors and technicians in all safety initiatives and safety meetings
• Conduct workplace inspections, routine plant walk-through on a regular basis
• Campaign for PPE compliance across all engineering and maintenance activities
• Develop job safety analysis for technicians and contractors
• Identify the training needs of team members and provide training with the help of the EOH&S Coordinator

Quality
• Ensure basic GMP norms are followed and facility conditions are maintained.
• Support employee training & development.
• Support & implement projects pertaining to Zero Contamination initiative across the facility.
• Support & implement the Engineering Projects
• Reduce the risk of micro & foreign matter contamination
• Address consumer & customer quality issue
• Take ownership of Quality standard where appropriate to support implementation and compliance

1. Follow all Colgate Palmolive requirements for EOH&S (Safety and Environment), Quality and Operations
2. Ensure all third party and contractors on-site work to Colgate Palmolive rules and regulations
3. Availability and flexibility to support out of hours breakdowns and repairs

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, etc.).
Experience:
• Min 7 Years of Engineering Experience Manager, 3 years engineer (Consumer Goods Industry will be an advantage).
Skills Required:
• Interpersonal Communication Skills, Self-motivated, Possess leadership and Project Management skills.
• Computer Literacy (MS Office, Lotus Notes, SAP).
• Good command of English Communication (both writing and speaking).
• Can work in shift.  
• Maintenance Experience with packaging equipment, mixing equipment, pumps, utility equipment including air compressor, chiller, boiler and steam systems, generators, water treatment and wastewater treatment Plants
