Job Description

A Great Opportunity for ...

Support the preparation of various internal and external reports and any other products for internal/external audience, including the preparation of Standard Project Reports for the Annual Reporting Exercise.
Ensure that standard reporting procedures are followed at the Country Office to drive the quality, consistency and standardisation of information management and performance reporting across the organization.
Collate and assist in the dissemination of political and humanitarian analysis pertaining to WFP current or future responses and donor policies, trends and preferences to ensure country specific input to WFP’s operational reporting.
Collaborate with counterparts internally and with other UN agencies to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and to complement WFP analysis and information.
Support the development, implementation and assurance of defined quality standards in all processes and products.
Contribute to communications through good research, analysis of assigned area of work and timely preparation and distribution of information products to target audiences.
Maintain a contact list of journalists and media outlets and support the flow of news/information about WFP’s work to the media, in order to support regular and appropriate communications.
Generate donor specific visibility content including, text, photos, videos and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms, in order to support global and country fund-raising activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages, including the management of WFP Myanmar country website.
Support communications activities that enable informed decision making and ensures consistency of information presented to the media and other stakeholders.
Support capacity building of WFP staff on all aspects of communication, provides advice and guidance within area and level of expertise, in order to ensure that all activities meet desired standards of consistency, quality and impact.
Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to support WFP to quickly respond and deploy food and needed resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.
Represent the organization in relevant external meetings such as the UN Communications Group meetings and Humanitarian Advocacy and Communications Group meetings.
Manage the photo/video archive.
Manage stocktaking and production of visibility items.
Support Head of Unit on Partnerships related issues as required.
Act as alternate in absence of Head of Unit.
Translate documents from English to Myanmar and vice-versa as needed.

Job Requirements

Education:

Advanced University degree in Political Science, Information Management, International Relations, Public Relations, Business Management, Social Sciences, Communications or other relevant field.

Experience:

Three years or more of postgraduate professional experience as a information management officer, reports officer, public information/communications officer, partnerships officer, donor relations officer or in other relevant field of expertise, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.

Language:

Fluency (level C) in English language and Myanmar language native speaker.

Computer Literacy:

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.
