Job Description

A Big Opportunity for ...

Business Development

› Developing and writing methodologies for proposals with guidance from the Chief Economist and Country Representative;
› Working with partner firms and individuals to ensure that MKEM delivers all required inputs for proposals by the required deadline;
› Communicating with external consultants in English and Burmese (by telephone, email, or face-face) to ensure their participation and to gather all inputs required for proposals;
› Strengthening external consultants CVs; and
› Checking the English grammar and spelling of proposals.

Project Implementation

› Undertaking desk-based and in-field research for projects;
› Managing the financial (creating and updating Project Expenditure Plans) and administrative (receipts, forms…) tasks of projects;
› Coordinating project logistics;
› Conducting training for enumerators for survey questionnaire and software;
› Conducting KIIs and FGDs (Key Informal Interviews and Focus Group Discussion) for the project;
› Ensuring quality of project implementation, making trips into the field when necessary;
› Communicating with the Client when asked to ensure that projects are implemented efficiently;
› Managing conflict and risk relating to projects in collaboration with the Country Representative and Chief Economist; and
› Checking the English grammar and spelling in reports before submission to the client.


Other Miscellaneous Tasks

› Supporting the Office Manager with ad-hoc duties where required;
› Interpreting and translating documents between English and Burmese;
› Assisting with training and other workshops where needed;
› Assisting MKEs International staff members with work-related issues; and
› Other general tasks.

All of your outputs should be submitted and approved by the Country Representative before submitting to the MKE board of management and external stakeholders (clients, partners, or external consultants).

Job Requirements

› A University graduate, in any subject.
› Must be willing and able to travel frequently (in Myanmar).
› Strong interpersonal, team work and communicative skills.
› Interested in research, international development and monitoring and evaluation sector.
› Must able to use MS package (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
› Excellent spoken and written English.
