The Senior Developer is responsible for the architecture, design, functionality, and usability of the products and websites. He or she works closely with the Graphic Designers and other Web Developers to create and maintain highly functional, scalable, optimized, and easily-navigated websites.
He or she will oversee the day-to-day workload and output of the Web Developers, and regularly report to the Chief Technology Officer. The Senior Developer will also provide backup support to the ETS team for internal and external customer support.
Responsibilities include ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of development projects both large and small in support of business growth, as well as, ensure consistent architectural design where appropriate to align across the Everyday Health companies.
The person who will succeed in this role needs to have a strong understanding of SDLC best practices and the ability to implement and guide quality control and testing processes on larger projects. You should have strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with various departments such as Sales, Marketing, and Project Management.
The right candidate will need to be comfortable establishing and setting development processes, code reviews, and defining application architecture.
Position Duties:
- Develop high quality websites, web products, and services in a time-efficient manner
- Ability to architect and implement modern SaaS systems to support various business units and applications
- Continually maintain and improve existing websites, web products, and services
- Effectively build and maintain internal and external administrative tools that improve the efficiency and output of admin users
- Proactively interface with the IT Administrator to improve internal and external server functionality
- Effectively interface with senior leadership on new product development and workflow processes
- Continually scale up existing infrastructure and scale down bloated/costly processes
- Efficiently and accurately update existing PRIME websites, including content, graphics, links, user functionality, cross-browser & 508 compliance, and SEO
- Work proactively with the research manager to achieve and maintain high-scalability in data collection and analytic generation
- Effectively oversee the design and direction of patient-facing technology products such as patient tablets or online patient portals
- Provide backup for internal or external IT Support staff as needed, and perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- 3 years’ experience designing and developing high-performance websites
- 3 years’ experience writing custom, optimized PHP classes and functions
- 3 years’ experience with custom queries in SQL/MySQL/MariaDB
- Proficiency with the entire LAMP stack, from deployment to server-level optimization and customization
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, Ajax, JSON, Cron, Bash scripts
- Experience designing cross-browser compatible websites with legacy fallbacks
- Experience with version control, W3C standards, and email newsletter design
- Experience with third-party tools such as APIs, Wordpress, Google Analytics, etc.
- Understanding of Node, Nginx, proxies, websockets, Python, and NoSQL
- Understanding of how to minimize memory and processor use when coding
- Understanding of RAID, logging, permissions, backups, and disaster recovery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and customer problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to optimally use SQL/T-SQL for data management, and support database design
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interface with remote personnel as needed
