Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

- Detailed reviews of client mining operations with reporting and recommendations on:
o Mine Planning and Construction – assessment of mine construction operations, including open pit and underground designs, location and development of ramps and access roads, layout of infrastructure and services, and planning improvements
o Mine Optimisation and Mining Methods – Evaluating models to optimize mining, evaluating factors such as mining method, mining risks, haulage capacity, safety, operational parameters and costs, deposit parameters and characteristics, and overburden depth.
o Economic Factors: Evaluation of budgets, mining and mill throughput costs, analysis of cycle time opportunities in the load/haul fleet, analysis of operational costs for annual budget preparation and reporting
o Capital Forecasts: evaluation of long term capital equipment needs and life of mine scheduling of equipment and infrastructure
- Technical input into scoping and feasibility studies for the economic assessment of new projects
- Supervision of construction on client projects.

- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, clients and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Strict adherence to Valentis and client safety requirements and procedures
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Education/ Qualifications

- Bachelors and/or Associate Degree in Mining Engineering
- Membership of a Professional Engineering Organisation

Experience/Knowledge/Skill Requirements

- Preferred over 10 years’ experience in mining operations, and ideally including foreign experience
- Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer to communicate effectively. This includes but is not limited to the use of MS Office programs, mining software and web-based programs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as plans, specifications, procedures and manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively in presentations and written technical reports
