Major Responsibilities

The Wildlife Conservation Officer will
• Support the Human-Elephant Conflict alleviation work: operationalization of HEC alleviation measures including electric fencing and early warning systems; liaising with communities, local authorities and stakeholders, especially in Bago Yoma and Ayeyarwady Delta Regions among others
• Liaise and collaborate with anti-poaching and elephant response teams from the Forest Department, Forest Police and Myanmar Timber Enterprise for poaching prevention.
• Coordinate patrol efforts to maximize protection using SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool)
• Support implementation of elephant conservation research work, taking part in field surveys including assisting with design and data collection for elephant research work.
This job description covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to organization needs.

Job Requirements

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, natural resources, environmental management, or a bachelor’s degree with substantial experience in a relevant field of work
• Demonstrated motivation to save Myanmar's wildlife, especially wild elephants
• Adhere to WWF’s values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
• Good coordination and organization skills to work with field team, communities and relevant agencies
• Ability to be self- organised and proactive
• Able to travel frequently
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Myanmar
