Key Accountabilities
To manage general / Civil and Architectural engineers / superintendents and oversee the works in order to ensure the Project Safety, Environmental, Quality and Programme objectives are satisfied.
To manage subordinates and subcontractors/direct works team to ensure the works are delivered in accordance with the approved Method Statements in line with Project management Plan.
To report significant issues and project status to senior management in order to facilitate action necessary to meet Project objectives.
To interact with Safety Manager/Officer in order to address safety issues and to continuously improve the standard of safety of the works.
To interact with General Superintendent, project / track engineers, on project progress and to provide development support in order to ensure the project and company objectives are being achieved.
To liaise with third party (including local authorities) or client in order to manage relationships, concerns and issues
To interact with survey department to carry out survey in advance to allow construction to proceed as scheduled
To ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety and environment standards in order to provide high quality works in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Actions
Delegate duties to direct subordinates and control performance through continuous review
Communicate effectively with subordinates to build on team morale, attitudes and performance
Review method statements and obtain a good understanding of procedures for delivery of works.
Overhaul control of the project team in the set jurisdiction, including safety, human relations and performance indices.
Record daily production, weather, delays, visitors, plant, labour and all matters that may have implication on our contract with the client or with subcontractors.
Check foremen’s site diaries on a diary basis and countersign with subcontractors
Obtain a clear understanding of extent of works and contracts documents.
Coordinate the planning and organizing of resources, with own Supervisors and subcontractors, to maximize productivity/progress.
Maintain a disciplined adherence to routine procedures.
Submit reports on time
Provide constructive comment on planned deliverables
Maintain an accurate daily site diary of all activities and progress.
Maintain schedules of Plant Working Hours, Maintenance, Fuel/Oil Consumption, Fuel/Oil Wastage, Fuel/Oil Delivery. Implement Health, Safety and Environment plan and monitor
Ensure availability and proper maintenance of first aid facilities.
Confer regularly with operational site staff to review project progress on an informal basis within regular meetings
Assist engineers with preparation of program, method statements, procurement schedules, production reports and registers of materials and equipment
Develop a mutual working relationship with the client’s site representative
Ensure efficient communication allowing for immediate response to construction related queries
Make sure all survey control points are in place prior to commencement of construction
Comply with Health, Safety and Environment Program.
