The Assistant University Counsellor will support the University Counsellor (Yangon) in leading and managing a programme of advice and support for students and their families.
This will include support with university applications, advice on the application process. the leading and managing of events such as university and careers fairs and input into the curriculum to ensure effective learning takes place to prepare students for the next steps in their educational journey.
Specific Responsibilities
Support in the management of the university applications processes on both campuses and advise students with their applications worldwide
Support students in their preparation of personal statements, personal essays and application forms
Be involved in meeting university representatives and other external agencies and, organise university presentation sessions, fairs, workshops for students and parents in a planned programme of lessons and activities for university guidance and applications throughout Years 9 to Year 13 delivered through the tutorial, enrichment and careers guidance programmes
Develop and manage a high quality and accessible careers library on both campuses, providing current information to students and parents and keeping up to date with changes in university admissions
Present to parents at appropriate points in the calendar, and proactively organise meetings with individual parents as required.
Consult and collaborate with secondary staff , especially tutors, concerning university advice and applications and offer support to staff and students
Support students in preparation for highly competitive courses by promoting work experience opportunities and community service.
Develop a keen understanding of world-class universities, their target student demographic and scholarships opportunities
Other Responsibilities
Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of School and the Heads of Secondary.

Job Requirements
An appropriate degree from an international university outside of Myanmar
Myanmar citizenship and Myanmar speaker.
Familiarity with an international educational context, including an understanding of international university provision as a result of personal experience as a student.
Experience of supporting students in the transition between school and university preferred
Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language preferred
A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
