Role Description 

The Cashier is responsible for collections including receiving payment and providing receipts for payments from customers as well as following and collecting any amounts due. 

While this role is part of the finance department, the seat is at the portfolio business with a reporting line to most senior finance role at the portfolio business (typically a Manager or Financial Controller). 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collections 

• Receive payment by cash, check, credit card or automatic debit  

• Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers  

• Follow up on overdue payments and personally contact the owing party or work through a relationship manager to close outstanding amounts due. 

Administrative 

• Liaise with customers and provide information on procedures and policies  

• Count money collected and reconcile with receipts 

• Reconcile payments received during a period with total sales 

Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 

• Entry level 

• Fluent in English 

• Extremely organized and attentive to detail  

• Strong with numbers 

• Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices 

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word 

• Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) software systems 

• Accounting certifications (CPA, ACCA or CIMA) preferred
