About the role
You get excited about unlocking value in data, and have a strong desire to learn and develop your data engineering skills. ONOW Myanmar is working to build multiple high-quality machine learning models to better serve small business owners around Myanmar and the world. We need data engineers to build the systems to support these models, and feed them with a continuous stream of high-quality and trustworthy data. You believe in the ability of data-driven solutions to solve some of the world’s most complex problems, and are excited by the possibility of building something new that hasn’t been done in the world before.
The Data Engineer (DE) will work closely with the Cloud Engineer, Analytics Engineer, and Data Analyst, and will be primarily responsible for architecting data products that enable these people to unlock value from the data and perform self-service analysis. The DE will also be responsible for expanding and optimizing our cloud data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for business teams.
The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the beginning. The right candidate will be energized by the opportunity to design, build, and maintain a high-quality data architecture at ONOW Myanmar and become one of the primary experts in its creation and maintenance.
ONOW Myanmar utilizes a leading cloud data stack, and the ideal candidate will have experience with SQL Database, Data Factory, and other components to ensure a high quality pipeline from end-to-end.
Responsibilities
As a team member responsible for building and maintaining high quality data warehouses and stores, the Data Engineer will bring a high attention to detail and a strong focus on the needs of data users. They will be tasked with creating strong and robust data pipelines that allow ONOW Myanmar to build machine learning applications for business owners around the world.

Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture

Assemble large, complex datasets that meet business requirements

Follow best practices of a data mesh framework to build independent and decoupled data products that allow users to find and interpret data in a self-service manner.

Build data products with an immutable, scalable, and extensible structure to meet ONOW’s growing data applications.

Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of sources using SQL and cloud technologies

Work with the Analytics Engineer and Data Analysts to create data pipelines that meet business needs and formatting. This includes, but is not limited to aggregations, imputations, filtering, quality controls, and other wrangling.
Qualifications

Native Burmese speaker, strong communicator in English

2+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, data warehousing, data pipeline management, or similar roles preferred.

Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases

Query authoring

Strong analytic skills and ability to create order out of noisy data.

Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, lineage, and workload management.

Working knowledge of batch and stream processing.

Strong project management and organizational skills.
