The Position: To teach and assess Spanish in accordance with the Yangon American curriculum. To develop materials and resources to aid the teaching of Spanish. Plan and deliver innovative teaching sessions to inspire and motivate students in their acquisition of the Spanish language.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for teaching elementary level Spanish language and implementation of the school’s teaching standards and requirements to ensure quality language teaching through Yangon American’s designated Spanish curriculum designed by the State of California Department of Education and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program Student Learner profile.
• Develop and implement engaging standard-based lesson plans and methodologies to meet the needs of all students.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments.
• Design homework and provide guidance to students, customize methodologies according to the diverse learning needs of the students. Offer additional support and tutoring.
• Participate in all faculty meetings, professional development, and outside activities sponsored by Yangon American.
• Abide by the Yangon American International School Child Protection Policy.

Desired Requirements:

• University graduate or above in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign or World Language – including current Spanish Language pedagogy.
• Holder of a recognized teacher qualification from a university program that includes a practicum in teaching the Spanish language.
• Minimum of three years of experience teaching Spanish as a world or foreign language in a classroom setting – preferably in an international school.
• Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive classroom environment that is conducive for learning.
• Exceptionally professional and familiar with pedagogy, standards-based instruction and the use of multimedia and Information Technology in the classroom.
• Having strong passion and affinity for students, good at communication skills, highly responsible and competent in learning and innovation.
• Demonstrate English proficiency with the capability of communicating with expatriate teacher in both oral and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and the greater school community.
• Support the classroom teachers in their IB PYP Units of Inquiry.
• Participate in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom.
