Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Reporting to the GIS Manager and the CEO of Valentis Services, the role responsibilities include -

• Assisting in data capture and spatial database creation within the Valentis GIS department.
• Provide geospatial technical support to the field teams and the Business Development Division.
• Provide GIS technical support for major client projects, including internal and client reporting, auditing and of product quality and product delivery within set timeframes.
• Ensure all field data is regularly and consistently collected from field teams and configured for the database.
• Ensure the security and integrity of the database is maintained, backed up with an external failsafe system.
• Training of other technical divisions and personnel to develop best practice in data management and Geospatial Technology.
• Maintain proper documentation of the database systems and procedures to ensure system sustainability and efficient disaster recovery.
• Assist in the further development and improvement of the Valentis GIS and RS databases.
• Participate in the planning of field programs as required including the construction of data collection.
• Participate in tender applications requiring provision of GIS services.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Geology, Geography or other related Geospatial Technology Stream (Geology, Geography, Forestry Preferred).
• Post-graduate Diploma in GIS/RS.
• At least three years demonstrated GIS and digital mapping experience.
• Experience in Spatial Database Management.
• Knowledge in geochemical and geophysical data management.
• Knowledge of technical and commercial data relevant to the mining industry.
• Broad knowledge of the various technical disciplines of the mining industry – Geology, Engineering, Metallurgy, Geotechnical and Environmental.
