Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE

  • This is a challenging new role for someone with a compliance or banking risk background and exposure to the front line. Candidates should have a detailed understanding of a control infrastructure and assurance and be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and implement a control framework. Good technical knowledge of Central Bank of Myanmar regulations, directives, guidelines and FI law as well as prior leadership/management experience would be highly preferred.
  • The role is varied and will suit someone who enjoys a fast-paced work environment and liaising directly with colleagues in different divisions within the Bank. Credibility and impact are vital to this role in order to gain the “buy-in” from and be able to influence the business.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable to develop compliance monitoring measures and plans.
  • Accountable for the content creation of training for control management.
  • Implement controls and monitoring programs in line with bank’s operational and compliance risk frameworks.
  • Liaise with all business units in creation of new controls testing framework/ control enhancement projects and the reviewing and follow up on remedial action.
  • Perform compliance risk assessment on all changes of regulations, policies, procedures, and projects to ensure that they are fully embedded within the front line (Including the 1st LoD Process & Control Team) and it can be part of the BAU processes and activities.
  • Review and maintain controls, monitoring their effectiveness, and enhancing where necessary.
  • Participate in all major regulatory projects that have a business impact
  • Responsible to provide recommendation on improvement measures based on the monitoring results on the performance of the bank internal control systems in order to specify the areas for improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Business (Finance/Accounting/Economics/other qualification fields).
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate employees and create productive and positive team atmospheres.
  • Excellent leadership skill with proven ability to develop, and motivate others ·
  • Excellent organizational skills and results orientation.
  • Assist line manager with projects and priorities as required.
  • Assist to draw up comprehensive and accurate reports on findings that can be understood by all levels from operational to strategic leaders including the board.
  • Experience in leading teams in a specialized compliance function ·
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of knowledge and experience in banking or other financial services. organizations within a regulated environment.
  • Sound knowledge of lending in the Myanmar market, focussing on retail/consumer lending.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Bank’s Products, channels, services, risk management disciplines, controls design and settings.
  • Experience in internal control and risk management and knowledge of regulations ·
  • Assist to set targets and objectives fo control department ·
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
