Job Description

This role is responsible for the end to end management of Myanmar IT functions, including management of third parties, regional support functions (eg. Infrastructure, ETS, risk) and project related activities at offshore delivery centers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic Information Technology Services in support of Myanmar business in attainment of business strategies. Including but not limited to:
  • Project Delivery - Deliver projects and enhancements related to system changes and implementation of new systems or solutions to support operational efficiencies and distribution channel and partnership growth. 
  • Product Development - Deliver and implement new products and day-2 items based on agreed Product Management roadmaps.
  • Production Support - Maintain overall system stability and availability by proactive engagement, incident management and service request handling while minimizing backlogs.
  • Business Relationship Management – maintain a strong sense of customer focus with business partners, capturing business requirements and collaborating on shared business goals.
  • IT Strategy & Architecture – Ensure project portfolio is aligned to business strategy. Maintain robust solution and enterprise architecture practices across the portfolio maximizing reuse of solutions and ensuring the lifecycle management of legacy technologies.
  • IT Demand Management – Establish and maintain robust prioritization, resource, capacity and financial planning practices.
  • Vendor Management & Infrastructure Services - Manage supplier relationships and SLAs where third party services are utilized. Including and not limited to internal global/regional shared services such as Infrastructure, IRM and Asia Delivery Centers.
  • IT Risk and Quality Management - Set up and run software quality assurance, risk and IT Security practices ensuring compliance with Cybersecurity & Audit requirements to minimize risk.
  • Provide timely, transparent and accurate information and communications to the Executive, key MANULIFE personnel and partners/service providers including (but not limited to): SLA’s, incident trends, throughput, ageing, capacity (supply/demand), project delivery, people and financials. Articulate strategic decisions and tactical tradeoffs to business and IT audiences.
  • Interact and develop strong collaborative communication/relationships with key country and regional Business & IT leaders (including but not limited to: technology office, program services, IT performance, PMO, regional ADM, CIOs and country IT Heads) and Service providers to ensure transparency on key application service activities and practices.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s/Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education

Knowledge/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in senior roles within IS functions
  • 10+ years of experience in project delivery & Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC)
  • Experience delivering and coaching Agile desirable
  • Experience dealing with third parties/Internal delivery centers
  • Experience working with remote/geographically dispersed teams in an on/offshore model
  • Experience in Application architecture, development, design, integration, and digital transformation
  • Strong understanding of the insurance/financial services industry, key principles of business and competitive strategy, and evolving digital and societal trends
  • Awareness of developing IT/insurance & cross industry/competitor trends (applications, delivery models, new technology concepts etc)
  • Appreciation of cultural differences across the Asia region and particularly within Myanmar market
  • Strongly networked in local market
