Position Purpose / Context

Key Duties / Responsibilities

• Advising on all company projects and initiatives from a legal perspective, offering solutions and risk assessment
• Reviewing and developing customer and supplier agreements within CCPBM and corporate guidelines to ensure compliant, competitive and successful business operations
• Completing and compiling all appropriate documents and advising on permits, competition, FDA, leasehold, purchase agreements
• Liaison with external counsel when required, focused on cost reduction and use of external counsel; to agree terms and manage legal budget
• Collaborating with HR, Government Relations, PAC, Workplace Rights and other functions within the context of a matrix organization on all relevant activities
• Developing good political, academic and legal connections to enable smooth business process in alignment with all CCPBM and corporate policy
• Representing the company in all the local legal community, courts and political and administrative decision-makers
• Corporate secretary duties and preparation for and attendance of all Board of director meetings, taking minutes, maintaining required records, completing filings and all follow up and completion of actions
• Leading and handling ethics and compliance related investigations with HR and corporate ethics
• Ensuring compliance, enforcement and investigations relating to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Trade Sanctions as it relates to Myanmar, is an advantage

Technical Competencies:
• Qualified in local law and ideally foreign training / experience
• Professional expertise in general corporate, litigation matters and labour law
• Demonstrated leadership ability with a strong interest in and appreciation of the day-to-day pressures and commercial realities facing a company. The candidate must have a passion for pragmatism and a demonstrated willingness to "get into the weeds" and solve problems independently.
• A demonstrated ability to interact effectively with both local company management and international corporate-level colleagues

Related Position Requirements/Qualifications
• Ideally, with 5 to 8 years minimum practical experience
• Time successfully spent in both outside counsel and in-house counsel roles
• In-house experience should ideally be from a multinational company
• Solid English capability. Verbal and written knowledge of Myanmar /Burmese language required
• Good overall interpersonal, infuencing and emotional intelligence skills.
• Occasional business trips
