KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing legal support and advice to the management and various divisions of the Bank on relevant legal issues; 

• Ensuring compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations and other legal and regulatory formalities; 

• Evaluating legal risks in the Bank’s business processes; 

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex legal documents, including various loan and security documentation and a variety of other contracts, statements and agreements; 

• Handling litigation matters and participating in litigation process; 

• Communicating with third parties and external stakeholders of the Bank, including its investors; 

• Keeping up-to-date with any changes in all relevant areas of Myanmar law

• LLB and MA in Law (or equivalent legal qualification);

• At least 3 years previous experience as a lawyer/counsel in international law firms and/or in-house at internationally owned companies; 

• In-depth knowledge of the laws and procedures of Myanmar, particularly banking and finance laws and regulations; 

• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills; 

• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills; 

• Significant management experience; 

• Effective negotiation skills; 

• Fluent in both Myanmar language and English; and 

• While not mandatory, litigation experience will be looked on favourably.
