Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution
Diagram supply chain models
Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists
Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, inventory and store materials
Appraise vendor manufacturing ability utilizing on-site visits and measurements when necessary.
Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, and freight forwarders
Monitor supplier performance to assess the ability to meet quality, appropriate lead times and delivery requirements
Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities
Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, and to discuss production forecasts or changes
Implement new or improved supply chain processes
Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers
Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers
Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success
Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, and system flows
Design or implement warehousing strategies for production material storage and flow
Confer with dept. heads to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products
Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality
Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service
Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and receiving
Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance and quality assurance
Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies
Conduct or oversee the conduct of life cycle analyses to determine the environmental impacts of products, processes, or systems
Design, implement or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed
Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory
Identify opportunities to reuse or recycle materials to minimize consumption of new materials, minimize waste, or to convert wastes to by-products
Investigate or review the carbon footprints and environmental performance records of current or potential storage and distribution service providers
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of warehouse and inventory personnel within the supply chain
Ensure safety procedures and regulations are followed and records are accurate and comply with all appropriate standards
Implement and maintain quality assurance metrics to include purchase orders, order policy adherence, and supplier quality
Establishes and manages procedures on maintaining and updating O&M materials.

Job Requirements

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in logistics management, supply chain, or relevant field.
Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of freight forwarding regulations and Incoterms.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Outstanding analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software.
Ability to manage logistics of all aspects of the supply chain, from order processing to the arranging shipment for importing.
Understanding of accounting or finance.
Must be able to comprehend legal documents.
Strong communication skills and the desire to build lasting relationships with suppliers all over the world.
Able to travel.
