Job Scope

Oversee and manage division/department assigned to achieve targeted KPI by optimizing assortments to drive the business, maximizing margin mix,  leveraging the buying power to get better terms from suppliers, optimizing supply chain to shorten inventory days, developing new source of revenue/income within division,  developing, train and motivating the team.

• In-depth understanding of the market.
• Responsible for category business development and strategic planning
• Develop the brand/category through review of the product assortment
• Identify appropriate sources of product supply and monitor the performance of all products
• Manage the promotional and all pricing activities
• Keep abreast of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of market
• Ensure a positive company image by maintaining and developing courteous relationship to suppliers.
• Monitor vendor performance.
• Review business process and grow the business through devising and implementing appropriate operating process.
• Ensure all procurement documentation is complete and accurate and retained for appropriate period of time to meet all company and legal requirements
• Application of company Procurement Policies & Procedures at all times ensuring robust commercial outcomes
• Mentors and coaches the team members to ensure goals are exceeded
• Determine and set guideline to the buyers on the optimum level of assortments
• Give advice to buying team during new item selection/presentation
• Negotiating with major suppliers to get the lowest possible price, higher margin (both front /back end margin - buying income)
• Set guideline on category management (including planogram) within division
• Set pricing strategy for division/department
• Develop Joint Business Plan with major suppliers
• Set guideline on how to maximize margin mix
• Work with sister companies, import team and different format buying team to leverage buying power
• Work closely with store, DC and supplier to optimize the supply chain to shorten inventory days
• Work with operations and marketing to ensure the implementation/execution of the program
• Develop new source of revenue/income by creatively looking at the trend and consumer behavior
• Analyze AC Nielsen data to see the opportunity and take necessary action
• Check and list new item, promotion and price change
• Monitoring competitor’s activities and pre-empt the next move
• Visit stores to see the opportunity to improve merchandising related matters
• Attend Trade Fair and improve the knowledge
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by Line Manager if required

• Any graduate, and retail background will be preferable.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in related field, retail background would be advantage
• Excellent communication skills, problem solving skills and negotiation skills
• Advanced at MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Must be willing to work shifts/flexible to work overtime as often as required
• Honesty, Hardworking and good team leader.
