BACKGROUNDOver the past 24 months, Yoma Bank has taken the lead amongst Myanmar banks in terms of lending to micro finance institutions (MFIs). Internally, the product has been set up, policies have been written and a credit analytics approach for MFIs is in place. The bank is aiming for the microfinance industry to become a long term and stable contributor to the overall corporate business segment. To that end we are looking to strengthen our team with a senior analyst (JA) to drive this business. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe SA will join a team of the Relationship Manager, a Senior Associate and a Junior Analyst who are responsible for the MFI portfolio of Yoma Bank. The team’s main responsibilities are to determine whether or not the bank should engage in a lending relationship with individual prospective clients active in microfinance activities in Myanmar and to maintain long term relationship with existing MFIs clients. Under the supervision of the MFI Relationship Manager, MFI Senior analyst’s responsibilities include:• Completing thorough, in-depth analyses of credit requests from both new and existing MFI clients consisting in financial and operational (MFI branch visit) analyses and Management Meeting• Writing credit applications • Preparing financial data entry for underwriting and analysis;• Maintaining complete client records including the filing of credit approvals, legal documentation and relevant client correspondence;• Monitoring outstanding exposure(portfolio management) including regular review of the clients’ financial statements (monthly/ quarterly);• Conducting quarterly / semiannual covenant compliance tests;
Education & Special TrainingEssential• University degree in accounting / finance / economics or otherwise quantitative field;ExperienceEssential• At least 1 year of relevant credit analysis experience (Preferably on MFI credit analysis)• A previous experience in Banking and/or MFI environment or is a serious advantageLanguagesEssential • Fluent in English and Burmese.Knowledge and SkillsEssential • Strong analytical skills;• Thorough understanding of financial statements and related accounting policies;• Strong cross-cultural communication skills;• Effective business writing and professional communication skills• Able to meet deadlines and be held accountable.• Can communicate to all level of person in and out of organization.• Team worker
