Job Description

Job Purpose

Coverage                          : 8 regions/states across Myanmar


Job Duties & Responsibilities

40% of the time (COMPLIANCE)

  • Performing independent reviews on operational compliance with the Maha’s laid policies and procedures.
  • Perform competition analysis and analyze risks related to the market
  • Performing root cause analyses on identified risk events to recommend improvements to prevent these risk events from re-occurring in future
  • Track and analyze incidences of frauds (successful and attempted) identify causes and implement with respective branches comprehensive measures to close loopholes
  • Conduct feasibility studies for the area expansion and judging the potential for existing branches
  • Ensure sufficient follow through on management actions to mitigate risks identified
  • Updating Operational Risk Policy to ensure that the policy reflects microfinance global best practices.
  • Meet on a regular basis Farmers, MSMEs and Vendor existing customers
  • Meet on a regular basis Farmers, MSMEs and Vendor old customers
  • Visit delinquent customers on a regular basis
  • Make sure loan applications data is accurate
  • Immediately follow up on internal audit and compliance issues with the objective to close them in a given timeline.



  • To develop and be specialize the modules
  • Identifies training needs associated with branch staff
  • Organize and conduct the training programs
  • Leads discussions/presentations at all levels of the organization and communicates information risk matters to senior management as needed.
  • Participate in ad-hoc working groups to address and resolve new areas of risk.
  • coaching loan officers through Hub Managers and Assistant Hub Managers


  • Ensures accurate and timely production of data analytics in support of risk assessments and productivity analysis being conducted to manage operational risk. Aggregates periodic risk reporting to present to senior management, including analysis of root cause and trends.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirement

  1. Minimum Bachelor Degree
  2. Understanding of microfinance processes, systems and procedures
  3. Minimum 5 years of microfinance experience
  4. Basic MS Office, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  5. Fluency in reading, writing and communicating in English
  6. Frequent travel to the branches

Skills and Competencies

  1. Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  2. Familiar with Myanmar microfinance policies and procedures, all relevant laws and external regulations.
  3. Commitment to continuous professional development, professional reading and willingness and ability to learn and improve continuously
  4. Commitment to ethical standards of MFI’s code of conduct
  5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and targets while demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Satisfactory report writing skills to draft detailed and well-structured reports
  7. Past experiences related to Basel implementation and/or Operational Risk Management Framework such as Loss Event Database, Control Self-Assessment, Ops Risk Incident Reporting or Key Op Risk Indicators will be viewed as key advantage to the candidate.
