About the opportunity

The Australia Awards in Myanmar is managed by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is administered by Scope Global.

The Australia Awards are an important part of the Australian Government’s focus on public and economic diplomacy, and provide long term Scholarships, Short Course Awards and other training opportunities. 

  • Position reports to: Team Leader
  • Location: Yangon, Myanmar
  • Contract type: Full Time, Fixed Term until 11 February 2023

Key responsibilities

The Program Officer (MEL and Communications) reports to the Team Leader, with strategic inputs and guidance to be provided by the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Adviser. The Program Officer works closely with the Program Manager and all Australia Awards in Myanmar team members and will support the work of other short-term advisors as required.

Job Requirements

  • A diploma or certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation or evidence of training and experience in a relevant field of study in evaluating activity or events
  • Advanced English language proficiency including reading literacy, writing literacy and conversational English
  • Demonstrated experience in targeted monitoring and evaluation of program activity, outputs and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of qualitative tools including interviews, survey and case study methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience in working productively and flexibly with others in delivery of monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of working effectively across cultures with a diversity of clients.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing social media content
  • Demonstrated experience writing reports for clients and a range of targeted stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in managing appropriate computerized MIS systems
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and various digital reporting applications (e.g. Tableau).
  • Preparedness to undertake field work for a variety of purposes throughout Myanmar including remote and hard-to-reach locations.
