Yoma Bank's Corporate Banking China Desk is a specialized team within Business Banking that plays a critical role in the managing and developing all aspects of businesses with Chinese corporates operating in Myanmar.

 

China Desk Services:

  • Staffed by skilled and committed staff who are fluent in Mandarin, China Desk is a dedicated desk at Corporate Banking offering an entire range of Yoma Bank products and services to meet Chinese business clients' specific needs in Myanmar.
  • To work towards achieving stakeholders’ business objectives by offering a variety of corporate banking services and solutions, including but not limited to transaction banking services, cash management, loans, trade finance and treasury services.
  • A ‘single window’ relationship and service point in collaboration with banking partners from China.
  • Working alongside Trade Finance teams, Branches and IBD and all other units in the Bank, to provide banking & financial advisory services to Chinese business clients enabling them to optimize their businesses in Myanmar.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Understanding of Client

  • Deep understanding of clients' business needs, footprint and decision-making process.
  • Owns customer Account Plan commitments.
  • Deep understanding of client treasury management needs, ecosystem and supply chain.
  • Build full access to cash management and trade finance decision makers through active client calling.
  • Additional responsibility of running with adhoc Corporate Clients projects which come up from time to time.

Revenue and TB Drivers

  • Complete ownership of client level revenue for Cash and Trade.
  • Manage the execution through to revenue realisation.
  • Proactively lead Cash and Trade opportunity development with the customers.
  • Execute activities in line with China Desk sales pipeline and deal review policies.

Risk Management

  • Manage all Cash and Trade Sales risks in the assigned customers. Conform to bank’s requirement, improve risk metrics, e-enablement and culture, and ensure no failed audits (internal and external).
  • Adhere to good sales practices in relation to bank policies.

Knowledge

  • Practitioner with Advanced Cash and Trade knowledge.
  • Structuring Solutions and ability to handle documentation.
  • Strong credit understanding and experience.
  • Seen as an industry expert in Cash and Trade.
  • Understanding of how to work effectively within a matrix / network organisation.

Skills

  • Ability to proactively identify client needs and create solutions to generate new to bank business.
  • Ability to cultivate a network of relationships in the client with key influencers and senior decision makers to identify and win deals.
  • Ability to probe the commercial implications of a Chinese client's needs and provide solutions and advice that positively impact the client's operational and financial performance.

Job Requirements

  • Degree holder with a Finance, Business or Accountancy background
  • 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in Relationship Management role with an FI that has dealings with Chinese corporates and/or familiar with China business protocols.
  • Strong commercial acumen and marketing skills with ability to maintain and grow client portfolio, acquire new clients, identify opportunities and convert these into tangible business for the bank.
  • Knowledge and good connects with the China conglomerates, local and international Chinese clients.
  • Good knowledge of corporate banking products including Cash Management and Trade Services.
  • Great communication skills with ability and stature to engage with a diverse client profile ranging across different level of seniority.
  • Cohesive team player who possesses a positive attitude.
  • Keep up-to-date with financial and industry developments;
  • Strong knowledge of Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local legislations.
  • Strong marketing and sales skills.
  • Strong analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Very good command of Microsoft tools.
  • Professionalism, maturity and self-management.
