Overall Purpose

Yoma Bank has taken the lead amongst Myanmar banks in terms of lending to microfinance institutions (MFIs) and non-banking financial institution (NBFIs). Internally, the product has been set up, policies have been written and a credit analytics approach for MFIs/NBFIs is in place. The bank is aiming for the microfinance industry to become a long term and stable contributor to the overall corporate business segment.

Under the direction of MFIs/NBFIs Senior Relationship Manager, Yoma Bank is looking for a MFIs/NBFIs Relationship Manager to assist in further drive this pipeline, maintain client relations and, transaction banking services, cash management, loans, trade finance and treasury services and also represent the bank in the microfinance and regulatory space.

 

Job Description

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of large credit relationships. Provide financing recommendations that are tailored to clients’ needs through synthesis and evaluation of overall assessment of clients including participation of due diligence process and field trips. 
  • Monitor credit relationships to ensure ongoing compliance with approved terms/conditions. Review existing relationships at intervals consistent with Bank policy.
  • Up-sell and cross-sell both credit and non-credit products and services of Yoma Bank to Financial Institutions. 
  • Expand the transaction banking business for Financial Institutions which includes expanding their transactions and overall relationship with bank to meet Main Bank objectives. 
  • Establish contract, rapport and credibility with prospective clients to influence key decision makers to start the relationship with the organization.
  • Direct and supervise ongoing client management by monitoring clients’ financing implementation plans.
  • Maintain a detailed and current understanding of the industry; current market structures; regulatory requirements and issues to ensure that opportunities are realized and the risks mitigated.
  • Serve as a mentor for other less experienced Junior Relationship Managers as they develop and/or refine credit underwriting, negotiation and cross-selling skills/techniques.
  • Representing Yoma Bank in the microfinance sector. This includes not only maintaining relationships with clients and prospective clients, but also with other stakeholders such as donors, multilateral development institutions, overseas financiers, etc.
  • Other Ad-hoc tasks which are assigned as deem fit.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Economics or other business management discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ prior experience in corporate banking segment or Microfinance sector or Banking sector or other related fields. 
  • Strategic relationship development, transaction banking and credit analysis/loan structuring experience.
  • Basic credit assessment for Microfinance businesses.
  • Good local relationship with local business communities.
  • Good knowledge of local regulatory environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player with ability to coordinate with product partners and support functions.
  • Ability to work autonomously & capacity to take pressure and deliver business objectives, complete task deadline and prioritize workload are some key traits of a successful candidate.
  • Entrepreneurship, results orientation, client impact, team worker, broad orientation and on social engagement.
  • Able to handle complex client relationships independently.
  • Able to adapt to fast-changing environment.
  • Proven team-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, spoken, email, PowerPoint).
  • Efficient execution of assignments within given time frame.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Experience in the banking or Microfinance industry is a plus
