Thura Swiss, one of the leading market research and consulting firms in Myanmar, is looking for candidates in the Consumer Research Department.

 

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision of the Consumer Research VP, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the following:

  1. Carry out sample size and power calculations for specific surveys. This includes calculating sample sizes and developing sampling strategies for surveys with multiple layers of representativeness.
  2. Calculating weights, nonresponse rates, and standard error estimates as part of documenting sample selection and implementation and carrying out substantive analysis on projects with analytical deliverables.
  3. Performing/Providing guidance in execution of quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy of sampling procedures.
  4. Contributing to or reviewing the sampling sections of sample design reports, analytic guidelines reports, and other written reports as may be requested.
  5. Providing technical information on the types of analyses, limitations of the data, strengths and weaknesses of various sampling strategies used in various surveys/studies implemented.
  6. Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  7. Correlating data to find actionable results, discovering solutions hidden in large data sets, helping find data-based insights.

Job Requirements

Education

-A Master’s degree in statistics, econometrics, economics, or any other related field of study.

-A First-Level University Degree (Bachelor's) in combination with minimum 3 years of significant relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

-Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

-Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in developing and implementing sampling strategies for programme or project specific surveys.

-Experienced in developing and implementing sampling strategies for large and complex household or consumer surveys.

-Knowledge of the estimation of variances, the calculation of correlation, standard errors, imputation, etc.

-Knowledge of weighting of various sampling and data collection designs would be an asset.

-Familiarity with survey research literature, methods, and processes highly desirable.

-Experience in designing large scale surveys would be an asset.

-Writing skills and communication skills required.

-Excellent data analytical skills required.
