  • ​​​Creating and executing lesson plans
  • Evaluating student performance on labs, assignments, and projects
  • Using a variety of instruction methods including lecture, hands-on learning, and technology
  • Teaching and ensuring students use safe methodologies when dealing with potentially hazardous tools/materials including Bunsen burners, glassware, and scissors/blades/pins
  • Communicating with parents as necessary
  • Motivating students
  • Continuing their own education through classes, conferences, workshops, and reading papers
  • Establishing classroom/school/lab/field trip expectations and responsibilities for students
  • Setting up and supervising experiments/demonstrations
  • Effectively managing grading and administrative tasks
  • Assisting with the recruitment and training of new teachers as required

  • Bachelor Degree in science or a related discipline
  • A completed apprenticeship or teaching experience
