To supervise and assist students during non-teaching periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. lunch, recess/breaks/spares, bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, washroom, field trips, public transportation, assemblies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

To provide interventions and support to meet the moderate to severe safety, health and personal care needs of students. These needs may include lifting and transferring, movement and positioning, feeding, toileting, changing and diapering, and approved administration of medication/medical procedures, (following appropriate training)

Participate in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission, ethos and vision, and to encourage staff and students to follow this example.

Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g. first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, behaviour management, etc.)

Actively promote the school’s policies.

Continue professional development in line with performance management targets.

Comply with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures

Support student/students during the school day in the areas of academic, behavior & health & safety

Work with the classroom teacher to differentiate classroom learning & assessment for the specific student.

support students to develop skills to direct their own personal care and to foster independence.

Assist the teacher(s) with preparation activities to meet the needs of individual students including appropriate assessment tools and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives on a daily basis.

Under the supervision of the SENCO provide interventions and support to meet the moderate to severe safety, health, personal care needs of students with special needs these needs may include lifting and transferring, movement and positioning, feeding, toileting, changing and diapering, and approved administration of medication/medical procedures

Monitor student’s daily schedule and behaviour plan (e.g. Class schedule, toileting, appetite).
