Job Description

Teaching and learning

These duties may include all, or some of the following:

  • To deliver curriculum to small student groups

  • To plan and prepare lessons to be delivered to small groups of students

  • To assess and report on small student groups

  • To use differentiated teaching strategies to encourage student engagement and participation

  • To facilitate student access to the curriculum 

  • To advocate for students with additional educational need

Communication

  • To liaise with SENCo on regular basis with student updates

  • To communicate with parents. 

  • To communicate with school staff and professional support personnel for the purpose of assisting in the effective implementation of the IEP and for sharing information about students and their needs

Support

  • To supervise and assist students during non-teaching periods within a variety of school environments (e.g.  lunch,  recess/breaks/spares,  bus  loading/unloading,  playground,  classroom, washroom,  field  trips,  public  transportation,  assemblies,  etc.)  for  the  purpose  of  maintaining  a safe and positive learning environment.

  • To provide interventions  and support  to  meet  the  moderate  to  severe  safety,  health and personal  care  needs of students. These needs may include  lifting  and  transferring,  movement  and  positioning,  feeding,  toileting,  changing  and diapering,  and  approved  administration  of  medication/medical procedures,  (following appropriate training)

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission, ethos and vision, and to encourage staff and students to follow this example.

  • Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g. first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, behaviour management, etc.)

  • Actively promote  the school’s policies.

  • Continue professional development in line with performance management targets.

  • Comply with the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures

  • Support student/students during the school day in the areas of academic, behavior & health & safety

  •  Work with the classroom teacher to differentiate classroom learning & assessment for the specific student.

  • support  students  to  develop  skills to  direct  their  own  personal  care  and  to  foster independence.

  •  Assist  the  teacher(s)  with  preparation  activities  to  meet  the    needs  of  individual students including appropriate assessment tools and/or  materials  under  the direction  of  the  teacher  for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives on a daily basis.

  •  Monitor, supervise and assist students during non-teaching  periods within a variety of school environments (e.g.  lunch, breaks/spares,  bus  loading/unloading,  playground,  classroom, washroom,  field  trips,  public  transportation,  assemblies,  etc.)  for  the  purpose  of  maintaining  a safe and positive learning environment

  • Under the supervision   of   the SENCO  provide interventions  and support  to  meet  the  moderate  to  severe  safety,  health, personal  care  needs  of students with special needs these needs may include  lifting  and  transferring,  movement  and  positioning,  feeding,  toileting,  changing  and diapering,  and  approved  administration  of  medication/medical procedures

  •  Monitor student’s daily schedule and behaviour plan (e.g. Class schedule, toileting, appetite).

  •  Complete break duties

  •  Deliver, plan and  assess curriculum to students with special needs

  •  Report on students with special needs

About Our Company

Myanmar International School Yangon (MISY) was established in August 2009 and is located in Yankin township, Yangon Myanmar.
MISY is an all-through school, catering for students from early years (nursery and reception) to year 13 (sixth form).

MISY (Mandalay Campus)

MISY Mandalay was established in August 2018. The school is currently located at No. 23, 48th Street, Between 109 x 110 Roads, Chan Mya Thar Si Township, Mandalay. The school runs classes in Early Years (Nursery, Reception) and Year 1 to Year 12.

MISY is a member of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), and our students sit for the worldwide recognized University of Cambridge IGCSE and A-level exams and take part in scholastic activities worldwide. They study at universities around the world as well as here in Myanmar.
