Job Description

A Great Opportunity for ...

Consultancy on Sustainable Agriculture learning platform and related app

Project title:                          Future intermedia encouraging learning dynamics (FIELD)

Title of the platform:            Eco-school: Agriculture

Short description

This platform will help local communities and small-holder farmers to develop good practices and expertise related to sustainable natural rubber, agroecology, farmer organizations and related subjects using modern multimedia learning technologies.

Project description

WWF-Myanmar’s Sustainable Agriculture programme aims to develop a learning platform, through which a structure of short training modules can be delivered, stored, reproduced and performance and progress monitored.  The content of the platform will offer different multimedia tools to enhance knowledge, good practice and expertise related to sustainable natural rubber, agroecology, farmer organizations and related subjects. Although accessible to anyone, the key intended users are farmers and community members that work in agriculture related industries. The secondary objective of the platform is to serve as a repository of training modules that people can access at any time and from any location, in order to learn conservation-related best practices in WWF.

Platform development (with outreach using mobile app)

Objective

To reach out to farmers and communities who can read and write in the Myanmar language and have lower-end smartphones with limited or no regular internet connectivity (but it is possible for them to - as a one-off occurrence - travel to an area with access to internet for downloading and/or uploading modules or other materials).

Features

The platform (and derived app) will have 4 different sections. They are Sustainable Natural Rubber, Agroecology Practices, Developing and strengthening farmer associations & Land tenure and food security. Each of these sections contain different modules that users can engage with either directly (by downloading a complete section) or filter based on interest and current skill level. In general, all modules need to come with a reward system technology that keep participants engage in covering the totality of the modules and help with their monitoring and evaluation from the side of the administrator. These reports should be available in a dashboard for the administrators. Finally, the full platform should come with a system that allows user to express their comments, questions, concerns, and also request help to improve their experience with it.

General requirements & proposal submission

The following features are also required in the app: 1) Simplicity for the user 2) Compatibility 3) Modularity 4) Simple intelligence 5) Offline Access 6) Monitoring and evaluation 7) Support 8) Intellectual property 9) Proposal: The bidder must submit both technical and financial proposals for the project. The technical proposal must cover all important aspects of the solution and the financial proposal should cover development and support costs. 10) Licensing: WWF would prefer using open source technologies to avoid any licensing costs.

These details can further be refined, modified and amended when the developer and WWF discuss the technical and financial aspects of the app development.
