About Our Academy :
The One World Academy is part of City Academy International that has already been established in Myanmar since 2013.
Opening its doors in August 2022, it offers a premier Cambridge Assessment and International Education and Qualifications for accessible fees here in Yangon for ages K-18. Its new, purpose-built campus features classrooms, a multipurpose hall, well equipped IT labs, 2 science labs, music and art room. We have a canteen where food and drinks are served or students may consume their own, brought from home, Indoor basketball and badminton and a playground are available. Class size is set at 20 maximum.
Led by a team of US and UK-based professionals, TOWA’s primary aim is to offer the best available preparation for the globally recognized and respected Cambridge English, Maths, Science, ICT and Humanities leading to the raft of renowned Cambridge International qualifications. These will include Checkpoint, Young Learners’ English, KET, PET, IELTS and, most importantly, IGCSE or International General Certificate of Secondary Education - – the world’s most popular international Academy secondary leavers’ credential that opens so many doors to the world’s top universities.
The Role

To this end, our Vice-Principal must be able to demonstrate a talent for working with the Principal in bringing the best out of all our staff and learners, and build a quick rapport with all our parents and other major players in the community.
We would also be encouraged by top-end results in external exams as the result of learning that is modern, interesting and fun, and the ready demonstration of an innovative, bright and warming enrichment showcase.

Demonstrate through wide knowledge and experience how the Cambridge curricular work and willingly share their expertise, ideas and resources with others.

Encourage lively, creative teaching with a systematic approach to SOWs, lesson planning, record keeping, standardization, marking and report writing.

Help local staff gain further confidence in planning for activity-based learning.

Instill assessment for learning and continuous assessment as a common practice
POSITION SPECIFICATION
The Vice-Principal reports to the Principal in managing the day to day running of the Academy in attaining its stated primary objective, which is to become the premier provider of Pre-Academy, Primary and Secondary education in Myanmar.
Specifically, the Vice-Principal is required to:

Assist in providing leadership to the staff.

Ensure teaching and learning is of the highest quality.

Be responsible for developing and fulfilling the Academy’s strategic plan.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential
-
A degree in education or a degree and a recognized post graduate teaching qualification.

At least 5 years’ teaching experience.

Demonstrated educational leadership experience including at least 3 years’ experience in managing a department in an internationally accredited education institution.

Demonstrated experience in teaching and encouraging learners to reach their full potential by performing to their highest capability.

Highly developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to enthuse and lead a team of dedicated teachers.

Sound interpersonal and negotiating skills and the ability to inspire staff to improve their teaching skills and methods.

Experience in helping to select suitably qualified staff.

Develop and implement new learning initiatives such the adoption of the Cambridge Curricular across all levels of the Academy.

Supervise the development and administration of Cambridge-based formative and summative testing as a measure of student and teacher performance.

Possess excellent written and spoken English.

Demonstrated experience in public speaking to students and their parents.

Excellent computer skills.
