Marina Container Lines (Myanmar) is a subsidiary of Marina Container Lines (HK) Ltd. and was set-up in 2014 with as JV with a local partner. We have a transportation permit to perform logistics-related services which was granted by Myanmar Government (DICA) and the permit is valid for 5 years till end 2019.
MCL (Myanmar) and MCL (China) can issue own MCL house B/Ls which are well covered by insurances as a group by MCL (HK). In Myanmar, we have the expertise to perform custom clearances, trucking and to obtain import as well as export licenses. Also, due to high volumes of containers being imported from many China ports to Yangon, Myanmar and due to low tide of Myanmar river ports not allowing big vessels to berth here in Yangon, transshipment ports are now being congested and containers are being sitting idle in transshipment ports like Singapore and Port Kalang (Malaysia) queuing for next available vessels for Yangon. However, we have special arrangements with some ocean carriers, for small premium charges, to arrange for immediate loading to the next vessels in the transshipment ports to cut the long waiting time there. MCL (HK) has 17 offices all over China along coastal areas and has Class A license in China which enables us to issue own B/Ls, solicit cargoes and receive/make payments. In addition, MCL (HK) has 22 vessels which operate along HK and South China coast. Myanmar has a few Singapore-owned logistics companies / forwarders due to historically good relationship between the 2 nations but these companies mostly do not have any presence or offices in China. We are only one of 3-4 logistics companies in Myanmar whose parent company is from China or HK. Therefore, we can, in fact, make payments to your suppliers or buyers easily by our offices on your behalf in China without the need to go through highly-charged and time-consuming bank transfers. Thus, if there is anything that we can do from China side with regards to sourcing, translation, consolidation, cargo inspection, custom clearance, custom transfer, trucking, warehousing, money transfers and other freight related services, please do not hesitate to let us know. At the moment, we now have a few buyers from Myanmar where we are performing sourcing, consolidation, cargo inspection, trucking, custom clearance and warehousing from Yiwu, Ningbo and Guangzhou. The city of Yiwu, next to Shanghai, is the world's largest sourcing center for all types of commodities.
