1. Operations and Logistics Coordinate Daily Workflow: Assist the manager in planning and directing daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods. Inventory Management: Implement and monitor inventory control procedures (like cycle counting and physical counts) to maintain highly accurate stock levels and resolve discrepancies. Shipping & Receiving: Oversee the scheduling and coordination of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Process Improvement: Analyze current workflows and logistics to identify bottlenecks and make recommendations for operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. 2. Staff Supervision and Leadership Team Management: Directly supervise, motivate, and mentor warehouse staff (e.g., associates, leads, supervisors). Training & Development: Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new employees on warehouse procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols. Scheduling: Assist with preparing work schedules and making daily work assignments to ensure adequate coverage and productivity. Performance Monitoring: Monitor employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and handle minor disciplinary issues, escalating major concerns to the Warehouse Manager. 3. Safety and Maintenance Safety Compliance: Enforce all health and safety regulations (OSHA, etc.) and company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment. Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse and surrounding work areas. Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and routine maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems. 4. Administrative and Reporting Documentation: Prepare, process, and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to inventory, shipments, staff hours, and operational performance. System Proficiency: Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other inventory software to track data, update records, and generate reports. Liaison: Act as a communication point between the warehouse floor and other departments (e.g., procurement, sales, customer service). Manager Support: Assume full responsibility for all warehouse operations in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.
