Job Purpose The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing and supervising the overall accounting and financial operations of the company. The position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective budget planning, tax compliance, cash flow management, loan and banking activities, and proper control of the Finance & Accounting Department. Key Responsibility 1. Accounting & Financial Management Manage and supervise the overall accounting operations of the company. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions. Review General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash and Bank transactions. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Monitor financial performance and provide financial information to management for decision-making. Ensure proper documentation and internal financial controls. 2. Taxation & Tax Compliance Prepare, review, and manage company tax returns and tax-related submissions. Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and deadlines. Coordinate with relevant government tax authorities when necessary. Calculate and monitor tax liabilities and tax payments. Maintain proper tax records and supporting documents. Handle tax assessments, queries, and related documentation. 3. Budgeting & Financial Planning Prepare annual company budgets in coordination with relevant departments. Review departmental budget proposals and ensure alignment with company objectives. Monitor actual expenses against approved budgets. Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations to management. Prepare cash flow forecasts and financial projections. Support management in financial planning and cost-control decisions 4. Loan & Banking Management Manage and coordinate company loan applications and loan-related processes. Prepare financial documents and supporting documents required for bank loan applications. Coordinate with banks regarding loan facilities, repayments, interest, and related matters. Monitor loan balances, repayment schedules, interest expenses, and maturity dates. Maintain proper records of all company loans and banking facilities. Support management in evaluating financing options and financial requirements. 5. Department Management & Leadership Lead, supervise, and manage the Finance & Accounting team. Assign duties and responsibilities to accounting staff and monitor work performance. Review and approve accounting work within assigned authority. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to accounting team members. Establish and improve accounting procedures, controls, and workflows. Ensure the department operates efficiently and meets reporting deadlines. Evaluate staff performance and identify training and development needs. 6. Financial Control & Audit Maintain effective internal controls over company financial transactions. Review financial records to identify errors, irregularities, or potential risks. Coordinate with internal and external auditors. Prepare necessary schedules and supporting documents for audits. Ensure audit findings are properly addressed and corrective actions are implemented. 7. Management Reporting Prepare financial reports and management reports as required. Provide analysis of revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, and financial position. Present financial information and recommendations to management. Support management in business and investment decisions through financial analysis.
