Why Join Thalun International School?

Thalun International School is a welcoming, ambitious, and student-centered international school in Yangon, Myanmar. Founded in 2016, we are proud to celebrate our tenth anniversary during the 2026–2027 academic year. We provide an English-medium, American standards-based education for students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, preparing young people for success at university and in an increasingly connected world.

Our academic program follows AERO and Common Core-aligned standards, with a growing selection of Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school. We believe an excellent education extends beyond examinations. Visual and performing arts, athletics, student leadership, community service, and co-curricular experiences play an important role in helping students become creative, confident, responsible, and globally minded individuals.

Thalun is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), and continuous school improvement is central to our work. We use assessment evidence, including MAP Growth and College Board assessments, to understand student progress and make informed decisions about teaching. At the same time, we know that strong relationships, a sense of belonging, and individual attention are just as important as academic results.
