PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: To manage the Information Technology function and to maintain systems to facilitate effective ICT within the school. To act as Systems Manager for the administrative computer network and being responsible for the security of data and access rights to the system. Identifying developments for the use of IT to improve effectiveness of school administration: In liaison with the IT Manager and SBM to ensuring adequate and reliable IT communications Developing and reviewing management information systems Keeping an inventory of software and hardware, licences and which computers they are installed on Managing consumables such as printer cartridges, batteries, camera cards, interactive whiteboard bulbs, and ordering stock in time for timely replacement Checking any orders and deliveries of ICT equipment and adding to the inventory Installations Managing Consumables and ordering stock in time for timely replacement Installing any new software according to licence terms Ensuring the required software is assigned to the correct users Organising new software according to school needs Maintenance Ensuring updates are done at timely intervals Checks and updates of Flash, Adobe Reader and other plug-ins as required Checks of equipment and software and user access Detecting and diagnosing faults and resolving them wherever possible Maintaining a schedule of all work done Cleaning keyboards and monitors Ensuring effective battery life of laptops by running battery life checks Broadband connectivity checks and fault resolution Maintaining a tidy computer suite or area, and ensuring equipment is looked after and put away safely each evening Maintaining and managing school email accounts, monitoring policy and e-safety Running performance checks and implementing system improvements Managing anti-virus software and running checks, resolving issues as they arise E-safety Monitoring and reporting any e-safety violations, and keeping records of such incidents (depending on the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures) Classroom support Setting up equipment for lessons as required Ensuring laptops and other devices are charged and ready for lessons, as required Researching any new software and making recommendations to teachers Virtual learning environment (VLE) and web development Managing and maintaining the school’s VLE and website Monitoring usage Updating as required with information from school staff
