The Sales Manager – Distribution Channel is responsible for managing the sales activities through distribution channels in a specific region or territory. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing distributor relationships, and driving growth in sales by ensuring the proper execution of brand initiatives and sales targets. The Sales Manager will collaborate with regional teams, marketing, and other departments to ensure the smooth flow of sales and distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to achieve sales targets through distributors, wholesalers, and retail channels.
  • Distributor Management: Establish, manage, and support key distribution partners in the assigned region. Build strong relationships and ensure effective sales execution.
  • Sales Target Achievement: Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets set for the distribution channel.
  • Market Development: Identify new business opportunities, explore untapped markets, and expand the customer base through regional distributors.
  • Promotions & Campaigns: Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and implement promotional activities, product launches, and brand-building initiatives within the distribution network.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure effective inventory control and order fulfillment by working closely with distributors, ensuring stock availability without overstocking or understocking.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis to the regional or national sales team. Monitor competitor activities and market trends.
  • Training & Development: Train and support distributor sales teams to ensure optimal performance, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, retailers, and distributors to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Sales or distribution management certifications (if applicable) are a plus.

    Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in sales, preferably in the distribution channel, retail, or wholesale sector.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing distributor relationships.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Channel Management: Strong knowledge of managing distribution channels and the associated sales processes.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate effectively with distributors and retail partners.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade distributors and partners.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor performance to inform sales strategies.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address challenges and find solutions to ensure smooth distribution and sales operations.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM tools, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and sales reporting systems.
  • Team Leadership: Experience in leading or coordinating with distributor sales teams to drive sales performance.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel regularly within the region to meet distributors and retail partners.
  • Results-Driven: Focused on achieving sales targets and delivering results.
  • Relationship-Oriented: Strong relationship-building skills to foster long-term partnerships with distributors.
  • Proactive: Self-motivated and able to take initiative to resolve challenges and drive sales growth.
  • Adaptable: Ability to work in dynamic environments and adjust strategies as needed.
