Summary: The Supermarket Branch Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the store's operations, including sales, financial performance, staff management, customer satisfaction, inventory control, and compliance with all company standards and regulations. The primary goal is to drive profitability and ensure a positive, safe, and efficient shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities:
AreaDuties and Tasks
Store Operations- Oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of all store departments (produce, deli, bakery, stock, cashiering, etc.).
- Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and organized store.
- Monitor stock levels, manage inventory control, and oversee the receiving of goods to minimize waste and prevent out-of-stock situations.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for store repairs and upkeep.
Financial & Commercial- Develop and manage the branch's annual budget, controlling expenses, and monitoring overheads.
- Analyze sales, revenue, and profit reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Implement business strategies and marketing plans to attract new customers and increase sales and profitability.
- Oversee cash handling processes and ensure accurate reconciliation of sales figures.
Team Leadership & HR- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all store staff, including department managers.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and motivate the team to meet sales objectives and maintain high performance.
- Manage scheduling, monitor staff attendance, and resolve internal personnel issues.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
Customer Service- Ensure all employees provide excellent customer service that meets or exceeds company standards.
- Promptly and professionally address and resolve customer complaints, concerns, and inquiries.
- Maintain a positive reputation for the branch within the community.
Compliance & Safety- Ensure the store is in compliance with all relevant local and national laws, including health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Implement theft prevention and security procedures.
- Liaise with government and regulatory agencies as required.
