The General Manager will be accountable for the P&L and overall performance of the petroleum business, overseeing supply sourcing and trading, inventory and logistics, retail site operations, pricing, compliance (including HSSE), and customer experience. This role requires strong leadership, disciplined governance, and a track record of delivering results in petroleum trading and downstream retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Leadership & Governance

Own the business strategy and annual operating plan for petroleum trading and retail operations, aligned to corporate objectives.

Lead, mentor, and performance-manage cross-functional teams; build a high-accountability culture with clear KPIs.

Establish governance, SOPs, and controls across trading, supply chain, retail operations, and finance to reduce operational and commercial risk.
Trading, Supply & Commercial Performance

Lead procurement/sourcing and trading of petroleum products (e.g., gasoline, diesel—based on portfolio).

Set pricing strategy and manage margin optimization across channels (bulk/industrial, dealer, retail).

Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, terminals, transporters, and key customers; ensure adherence to volume, quality, and commercial terms.

Monitor market dynamics (Platts/Argus differentials, freight, FX) and translate insights into actionable commercial decisions.
Stations Operations & Retail Excellence

Oversee day-to-day operations across fuel stations and retail network to ensure availability, service quality, and profitability.

Drive retail sales growth, including fuel, shop/non-fuel retail, and ancillary services (lubricants, car care, partnerships).

Implement standards for site operations: cash control, forecourt management, staffing, training, customer service, and loss prevention.

Manage dealer/operator relationships where applicable; ensure contract compliance and performance improvement.
Supply Chain, Logistics & Inventory Management

Ensure end-to-end supply reliability: demand planning, ordering, terminal operations, transport scheduling, and replenishment.

Optimize inventory levels and working capital; manage stock reconciliation, losses (evaporation/shrinkage), and variance investigations.

Manage product quality assurance (sampling/testing, contamination response), claims, and incident resolution.
HSSE, Compliance & Risk Management

Champion HSSE culture with zero tolerance for non-compliance; ensure compliance with all petroleum regulations and licensing requirements.

Ensure safe operations across terminals and stations: audits, inspections, emergency response readiness, contractor safety management.

Oversee risk controls across trading (counterparty/credit exposure), retail (cash and fraud risk), and operations (spill, fire, environmental).
Financial Management & Reporting

Full P&L ownership: revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, capex, and cash conversion.

Set and track KPIs (volume, margin, OPEX/site, stock losses, uptime, incidents, customer metrics) with structured performance reviews.

Partner with Finance to ensure robust forecasting, budget control, and reporting cadence to senior leadership.
Network Expansion & Asset Management (as applicable)

Lead site acquisition, development, and network expansion plans: feasibility, approvals, construction, commissioning, and ramp-up.

Oversee maintenance strategy to ensure asset integrity and minimize downtime; manage capex planning and ROI discipline.
