BACKGROUND
Following a recent change in regulation, Yoma Bank is stepping up lending activities to Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs). To that end we are looking to strengthen our team with a junior credit analyst (JCA) to drive this business from a credit perspective and safeguard a healthy risk-adjusted return for the bank.
Working in the MFI Credit Team will provide the JCA with an excellent opportunity to work with expatriate and repatriate bankers with worldwide experience. While no relevant experience is required, it is essential that the JCA is analytical and a quick learner. Within 6 months the JCA is expected to be able to perform cash flow based analytical analyses, comfortably read financial statements and independently monitor the performance of existing clients. Continuous on-the-job training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The JCA's main responsibility is to determine whether or not the bank should engage in a lending relationship with individual prospective clients active in micro finance activities in Myanmar. JCA is also responsible for analysis of Yoma Bank's Loan Application Files details and submit for approval in time.
- Take part in the underwriting work on various MFI prospects, including financial and operational due diligence; meet with client management;
- Maintain complete client records including the filing of MFI credit approvals, legal documentation and client correspondence;
- Liaise with the front office team on successfully managing and growing the MFI portfolio;
- Monitor outstanding MFI exposure (portfolio management) including regular review of the clients’ financial statements;
- Conduct quarterly / semiannual covenant compliance tests for existing MFI clients;
- Take Business Field Trip to MFI clients and conduct Operational Due Diligence.
- Analyze all required documents for Loan Application Files submitted by Branches, request necessary documents from branches, inspect and appraise if loan related
information are accurate;
- Analyze clients’ bank statements and financial statements;
- Perform serviceability assessments;
- Compare the loan details applied through Loan Origination Module on Fusion Banking Essence (FBE) Core Banking System with details from Loan Application Files and
follow up until Loan Set Up is completed on FBE;
- Perform other credit and risk related tasks as assigned by Head, Deputy Heads & Managers.

Knowledge & Skills

Education & Special Training
Preferred
- University degree in accounting / finance / economics or otherwise quantitative field;

Experience

- Work experience in a financial institution;
- Knowledge of micro finance lending activities.
