Providing legal support and advice to the management and various divisions of the Bank on relevant legal issues; 

Ensuring compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations and other legal and regulatory formalities; 

Evaluating legal risks in the Bank’s business processes; 

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex legal documents, including various loan and security documentation and a variety of other contracts, statements and agreements; 

Handling litigation matters and participating in litigation process; 

Communicating with third parties and external stakeholders of the Bank, including its investors; 

Keeping up-to-date with any changes in all relevant areas of Myanmar law; and 

Providing ongoing training and coaching to the other members of the legal team. 

LLB and MA in Law (or equivalent legal qualification)

At least 5 years previous experience as a lawyer/ counsel in international law firms and/or in-house at internationally owned companies

In-depth knowledge of the laws and procedures of Myanmar, particularly banking and finance laws and regulations

Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills

Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills

Significant management experience

Effective negotiation skills

While not mandatory, litigation experience will be looked on favourably

Fluent in both Myanmar language and English
