Position Purpose

The Senior Platform Developer is responsible for developing and configuring various Platforms and Middleware API’s, unit testing, peer testing, product testing and Go-Live activities of new features and products of the Wave Money mobile financial services business. Working closely with other team leaders, you will ensure the structured and coordinated planning of your team’s development, technical background and experience. You will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required and be able to support and assist developers at code level and ensure the code is delivered with defined coding standards and quality. You will collaborate with technology teams and non-technology stakeholders with a strong focus on delivery, debugging, problem/issue solving, API related incident response & incident reporting.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Design and build platform features and required APIs
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to document technical design and specification’s
• Ensuring non-regression when developing new features
• Participate and collaborating with technology team in project management, product delivery and QA
• Deliver MFS middleware platform requirements and associated eco-system to meet current and future business requirements
• Ability to prioritize team work through balancing both long and short term objectives.
• Communicate development status updates to head and relevant stakeholders
• Leading platform deployment, product change and go-live activities success (this will involve regular participation in non-business hours operation)
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the platforms and APIs
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
• Lead, support & maintain code quality, organization, and automation
• Support platform related incident response and report

• Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science or Technology
• 3 to 5+ years of experience in API/backend/middleware development with API gateways and API Manager
• Excellent understanding of programming/design patterns, algorithms, and ability to build elegant solutions with simpler and fewer line of code to complex problems
• Flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment
• Understanding of security standards and best practices in middleware/API development
• Passion for quality and maintainability of code
• Expertise in one or more of the following: Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Micro Services and Frameworks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Articulates thoughts and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively
