The job holder will be responsible in providing underwriting assistance in Operations Team, particularly Underwriting Team.

Report to Underwriting Senior Manager.

• To underwrite client cases based on medical and financial standpoints using findings on medical examination, and the risk assessment of cases referred to by New Business team from time to time.
• To check clients’ documents/medical records using medical knowledge and coordinate and communicate with related PICs and their departments and/or divisions of Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar Ltd and outside Dai-ichi Life.
• To communicate related stakeholders (including customers, hospitals, co-workers, supervisors, and other stakeholders as required) via email, phone and other methods to inform matters related to underwriting decisions/actions/explanations on clients’ cases such as extra premium, postponement, declination, more requirement, more medical checkup, etc.
• To liaise with other departments and/or divisions of Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar Ltd.
• To enquire and follow-up with panel hospitals on matters of new contracts and/or contract extensions, price changes, and cases with medical underwriting in conducting the various medical examinations and tests and the interpretation of certain medical reports.
• To consult the senior medical practitioners at panel hospitals if necessary.
• To help uphold DLMM’s firm commitment to professional excellence by applying medical science.
• To attend Underwriting Committee and Claims Committee meetings and any other meetings internally or externally which are held on a timely basis at DLMM office premises or other places, and present and report accordingly.
• To attend training provided by DLMM internally or by other 3rd parties externally, as required.
• To give presentation or training related to medical knowledge to other non-medical co-workers (e.g. salespersons, financial advisors, officers from other divisions/departments)
• To report the status and statistics of cases to underwriting manager and/or other supervisors on weekly or monthly basis.
• To participate in DLMM’s other DSR (Dai-ichi Social Responsibility) activities locally or abroad.
• To undertake additional assignments, as may be requested by DLMM from time to time.

• Medical Graduate (M.B.B.S.)
• A sound knowledge of the local healthcare industry, including the availability of the various healthcare facilities and services, in both public as well as private healthcare sectors.
• With over 2 years of clinical experiences in medical science (experience of life insurance company is a plus)
• Has high professional standing and fine reputation, good networking and could help wield significant influence in the medical community in Myanmar.
• Effective spoken and written communication skills (grammatically), including giving presentation, in both Burmese and English.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Able to type in Burmese PyiDaungSu Font.
• Courteous and professional attitude to co-workers and other stakeholders.
• Able to learn insurance knowledge and take qualification exams as required by the company.
• Most importantly, interest in insurance career and willingness to learn constantly with a good attitude to coworkers and customers.
