Job Purpose
Network Associate Teachers complement the professional work of a subject or faculty in the Secondary School by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities underthe guidance and direction of the International Teacher(s). This will include collaborating on planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals and groups. Where appropriate to the stage of development, the Network Associate Teacher will also have responsibility for sections of whole class teaching and cover for the Network International Teacher in their absence. The Network Associate Teacher supports the Network International Teacher in monitoring students and assessing, recording and reporting on students’ achievement, progress and development. The Associate Teacher also complements the professional work of a Key Stage by taking shared responsibility for a tutor group as a co-tutor, supporting.students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties, as well as monitoring and supporting the overall progress of students in the tutor group.
Areas of Accountability
● Cover for the Network International Teacher in their absence, where deemed appropriate by the Head of Faculty.
● Collaborate with and assistthe Network International Teacher in the planning, preparing and delivering of timetabled lessons.
● Collaborate with and assistthe Network International Teacher in the process of checking for student understanding and ensuring students receive regular,timely feedback.
● Collaborate with the SENCo and assistthe Network International Teacherto implement strategies that support all learners in making progress.
● Contribute to whole school ethos, environment and organisation both practically and as a role modelfor students and colleagues.
● Help create teaching environments across the faculty and the schoolthat supportlearning and stimulate academic curiosity.
● Actively participate in the wider life ofthe school including (but notlimited to ) break and lunch duties, House events, ECAs and Parent Meetings.
● Act as co-tutorfor a tutor group, collaborating with an International Teacherto register students and provide a consistent pastoral support and overview of a tutor group.
● Undertake other duties from time to time as directed by the Secondary Leadership Team.
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
- Mark students work and provide written and verbal feedback according to the schools Assessment and Marking Policy.
- Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and maintain up to date knowledge on curriculum developments.
- Set homework and plan other out of class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding students have acquired as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with parents throughout the year via Parents’ conferences, report writing, etc.
Whole School Organisation, Strategy and Development
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures, so as to support the school’s values and vision.
- Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school
- All Network teachers must organise and participate in extracurricular activities such as after school clubs, class trips and sporting or social events.
- Participate in the school’s CPD programme and support the professional development of others.
- Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach.
Pastoral
- To undertake the role of form tutor, and support students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties as stipulated by the Role of the Tutor job description.
- To monitor and support the overall progress of students in the tutor group.
- To liaise with the Deputy Head to ensure the implementation of the school’s Pastoral System.
Efficient and Effective Deployment of Resources
- Direct and supervise support staff assigned to them, and where appropriate, other teachers Contribute to the recruitment and professional development of other teachers and support staff
- Effectively use a range of different learning resources and equipment.
- To prepare and update subject materials.
- Deploy resources delegated to them.
