Job Responsibilities

1. Apply academic learning to the workplace environment
2. Provide reports, analysis and research on relevant issues as directed
3. To assist the Operational Planning program for the Electrical, Instrument and High voltage discipline, through to Hot commissioning.
4. Undertake professional and personal development to complement on job learning
5. Investigation, inspections and collection of data / conditions for design/asset purposes
6. Prepare cost estimates and specifications supporting designs, appropriate for procurement purposes
7. Administration duties as associated with Operational Planning, asset, and project management
8. Assist with creation of Electrical procedures for all plant.

Operational Readiness Plan

• The Operational readiness program aims to ensure that a well-trained and knowledgeable team are fully ready to Operate the new plant prior to Cold Commissioning of each facility. At cold commissioning the team will thread and operate the line under the control of the Commissioning Manager.

Plant Construction

• Participate in the various stages of construction as required. This may also involve factory acceptance testing in other countries.

Training

• Participate in plant training programs.
• Attend local training facilities to complete further training where deemed necessary to compliment your position.

Safety

• Proactively be engaged in supporting a strong safety culture. Attend toolbox meetings. Engage in safety behaviours and recognizing unsafe acts and working closely with maintenance teams to build their safety culture.
• wear suitable protective clothing for the different types of work to guard against arc blast.
• Electrical and High voltage systems contain massive energy that represents significant risk to personnel and plant. Engender a culture that does not take risks such as exposure to live conductors, slow closing of any circuit breakers, non-testing before touching equipment etc, and this needs to apply in a 24-hour rotating shift basis.

Electrical, Instrumentation and High voltage

• In the absence of in country standards, identify and apply a sensible approach to Electrical, Instrument and High voltage processes and safety based on world norms and your practical experience.
• The Electrical/Instrument Equipment utilized in the steel industry is complex and requires precision skills. Many of our new employees will lack the safety and precision skills to work on this type of equipment. This may require working with local skills colleagues to bridge the gap and potentially a pseudo trade training program including electrical measurement, reading circuit diagrams, trouble shooting and electrical fitting etc.

Job Requirements

1. Proactive, well organized and continuously striving for an exciting efficient approach.
2. Desire to learn High Voltage switching. (33KV)
3. Desire to learn Siemens PLC programming, S7-400
4. Desire to learn Instrumentation and process control. VFAC drives, Induction heating, X-Ray control and maintenance in all equipment
5. Proficiency in English 4 Skills.
6. Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple tasks.

7. Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
